Education
Having worked in UK higher education for thirty years, at Birmingham and Swansea, I am passionate about the way we, as a society, prepare young people, engage with knowledge and create a truly global education system
Society
Having worked in many parts of the inner urban areas of Manchester and Birmingham, I am committed to social justice. However, the attempt to reach any kind of resolution proves increasingly difficult as the goals of equality, diversity and inclusion appear to get ever more distant.
Religion
My academic discipline and my real passion is the understanding of religion in society. It is such a complex and fascinating topic with so many different aspects and opportunities.
Creativity
I was born in Tanzania and studied anthropology at University. Travel has been so important in my life, both in the imagination, through novels and films, but also across the world to different cultures and environments. It is travel that drives my own creativity and inspires my imagination
